Wind Force Scale 0–15
Chili Klaus’ Wind Force Scale describes how the heat feels when you eat a product.
Every one of our products has a number, so you know where it sits on the scale.
Wind Force is not a laboratory measurement. It is a feeling score – a bit like wind chill.
The Chili Factor is the overall experience of the chilli’s heat, intensity and character in the product.
Others measure heat in Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The Scoville scale measures the capsaicin content of a chilli or product. Capsaicin can tell you something about how hot a chilli is in laboratory terms. But two chillies with roughly the same Scoville rating can feel very different, and in a finished product the chilli variety, amount, recipe and the way the heat develops all matter.
That is why Wind Force is a compass for the Chili Factor – not a laboratory number.
The higher the Wind Force, the more intense the chilli experience you can expect.
Find the level that suits you. And if you are curious: work your way up. 🔥
